Rules we follow

• Public records and operators' own published information only. No scraped review platforms, nothing from behind logins.
• Specialists only. We removed water-damage generalists, medical-waste haulers that don't do scene work, and an entire ~60-listing network of doorway-page spam subdomains that other directories count as coverage.
• Honest locations. For companies found via search-listing discovery, the listed city is a service-area signal, and their profiles say so — we never present it as a confirmed headquarters.
• No empty pages. City pages exist only where we have at least one company to show. States where we have nothing say so plainly.
• Deduplication: listings collapse on matching name + city + state or matching website domain; distinct branches of one brand are kept as separate city listings.

What “verified” means — exactly

A verified badge means we found the company on the named official state registry on the date shown on its profile (currently July 2026 for all verified listings). It is a license cross-reference at a point in time — not an endorsement, not a quality rating, and not a guarantee the registration is still current when you read this. Confirm current status with the issuing agency before hiring.

Known gaps (we'd rather tell you)

• Georgia and Illinois license this work but publish no bulk roster, so their listings await per-company verification.
• We have no confirmed listings yet in DC, Hawaii, or Vermont.
• California and Florida dominate our verified counts because they publish real registries — that's a property of state transparency, not of where good operators exist.
